2025 TAD RAIL was our biggest yet - with these layouts (scroll down for video):

  1. Silverbury “00” 28’x2’6” by SW Herts MRC. A Modern Image layout with layout lighting operated by DCC with sound fitted diesel locos and DMU’s. A fictitious terminal layout with small freight area and loco facilities. With storage for DMU’s and coaching stock.
  2. Foxborough N gauge 15’x4’ by Silver Fox MRC. A continuous run layout displaying a wide variety of locos and stock. There is a large main line station and also a branch line running along the back of the scenic section operated independently. It can be run in a variety of time periods.
  3. Providence Colliery “00” 6’x3’4” by Theo Thomas. Based on a fictional Forest of Dean colliery in BR era of the late 1950’s. Operated by DCC with realistic slow running sound fitted locos with auto-uncoupling. The mine entrance has working narrow gauge coal tubs with loading screens, storage siding and a small passenger platform.
  4. Jubilee Works ”0/014” 9’x2’ by Duncan Croser. This 7 mm scale layout is an industrial site with dual standard and narrow-gauge lines operated with mainly steam locos.
  5. Long Sibford 009 16’x4’ by Oxford 009 modellers. This is a modular layout with several different scenes, The modules are all interchangeable. It will include Bridge over the River Wye, Pitt and Pit, Harding, Viaduct and Slate Bend
  6. Ebb & Flow 1.2 x 0.3m by Stephen Hulme. The scenic diorama is based on a prototype road-rail bridge in the Garden Route in South Africa and features simple up and down running with additional visual interest provided by fireflies in the forest.
  7. Alresford N gauge 12’x2’ by Tom Arthurs. This depicts the through station on the mid-Hants railway linking the main line with the preserved steam railway.
  8. Harpenden East “0” gauge 60’x 2’ by Luton 0-gauge group. This layout captures a small section of the busy local GNR/LNER branch-line including the station with buildings and a 30-lever signal box. A goods yard with shed is included. The line was closed in 1965.
  9. Craigillin N gauge 25’x2’ by Jeff Davies. Craigillin is situated on the Highland main line north of Perth. The station is served by local and through passenger services and has an old steam shed for locos serving the distilling and timber industry.
  10. Barrow Drove TT3 8’x1’ by Mark Haynes. This is a real place in the Fens at one time on the Wisbech to Downham Market line. The line to the East is temporarily closed due to flooding so all services terminate here to a connecting bus service. Kit-built and 3D printed structures are mainly used.
  11. Glenridding Lane “00” 8’x2’6” by Hemel MRS. This represents a goods yard with a canal basin with a shuttle freight service and shunting yard. Eddie Stobart vehicles are visible.
  12. City Basin Goods N gauge 8’x1’6” by Stephen Dance. This represents a typical freight yard on the Western Region of BR in the 1960’s /early 70’s. Locos are diesel hydraulics hauling a variety of freight wagons including bulk deliveries of fuel, bitumen, cement and parcels.
  13. Appleton Dene “0”/16.5 16’x1’9” by Royston MRC. This depicts a narrow-gauge line running through a station and providing rail access to a factory and builder’s yard during the 1930’s. The rolling stock is either scratch built or modified kits featuring some unusual locos, carriages and wagons.
  14. Rock Ridge H0 16’x2’ by Barry Clements of Royston MRC. This is a small town in the state of Wisconsin, USA. Although once a through line the single track now terminates but still connects to Chicago set in the period 1907’ to 1990’s. Several industries have rail facilities.
